HAM, a chimpanzee also known as HAM the Astrochimp, was the 1st great ape launched into space. Born in Cameroon, he was kidnapped by animal trappers and sent to a Farm in Florida. He was later purchased by the U.S. Air Force and brought to a Base in New Mexico. After completing his pre-flight training, he was launched on a rocket into space (1961). HAM not only survived the flight, but performed his tasks correctly, despite his young age (3 ½ years old), the rigors of space flight and the fear he must have experienced. He died 22 years after his legendary trip into space on January, 18th 1983 at the age of 26. Choco Myths created this special “HAM” edition to honour the courageous chimp, a true space hero.
