Cher Ami
THE WAR HERO (1918 - 1919)

Cher Ami (French for "dear friend"), was a male homing pigeon used by the U.S. Army in France, during World War I. During a tight battle, a U.S. battalion was encircled by the enemy forces without food or ammunition. Cher Ami was dispatched by the trapped soldiers with a note asking for help from the allies. He was heavily wounded by enemy fire, but, against all odds, he survived and covered 25 miles (40 km) in just 25 minutes, delivering the crucial message, saving the lives of 194 men! Following his recovery, Cher Ami became a war hero and was awarded several honours, including the Croix de Guerre Medal. Choco Myths created this special “Cher Ami” edition to honour the courageous messenger, a true war hero.
