Did you know that the Arabic word "halawa", widely known as HALVA, simply means "sweet"? Since the 7th century, it is traditionally enjoyed in the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean regions. The iconic fudge-like confection is actually pretty simple, and usually made with tahini (sesame seed paste) and sugar. Some popular versions of Halva may also contain vanilla, chocolate, orange and nuts.
